Completing a task

What happens when a task is completed: the final report, its block in the stage passport and the material list.

Completing a task is not one action but a short cycle: the worker submits the job, the manager accepts it or sends it back.

How the worker submits

In the In progress status there is a Complete button. On the completion date it replaces the button for adding a report.

Pressing it opens the final report form: description, comment, photographs. Once submitted, the task moves to Report approval.

How the manager reviews

The manager opens the report and picks one of three outcomes.

Work accepted. The task moves to Done at 100%. The final report is added as a section of the stage passport.

Work not accepted, corrections without buying anything. The task moves to Rework required. The worker is notified and opens the manager's comments through View comment. The work continues in the same task.

Work not accepted, new materials needed. If the mistake cannot be fixed with what is already there, the task stays open in Repeat execution and a new task is created — with its own technical description and its own specification. The old task is added to the new one's related tasks and holds its status until the new task closes successfully.

Why it is split this way

The difference is whether money is involved. Rework without buying is a continuation of the same job. Rework with purchasing is a new cycle of preparation, approval and buying, and it needs to be visible separately in the specification and in the costs.

If it all happened inside one task, the cost of the rework would dissolve into the cost of the work, and there would be no way to see what the mistake actually cost.

What remains after closing

All reports, photographs, the specification and the price history stay in the task. The final report goes into the stage passport.

Specification items that never reached the site stay in the Delivery section. They do not close automatically — the manager checks them by hand and works out whether the materials were used, are sitting in the warehouse, or have gone missing.
