Creating a task and assigning a worker
How to create a task inside a stage, describe the work, set deadlines and assign the person who will do it.
A task is what one person does. It lives inside a stage and is created once your stages are in place.
How to create one
Inside an open stage, tasks sit in the right-hand column. Tap the three dots and create a new one.
The form asks for:
Name — short and recognisable: "Plastering, bedroom walls"
Technical description — up to 5,000 characters
Planned dates for start and completion
The technical description is not a formality
This is the only place that says what actually needs doing. The worker will read it once before starting, and go back to it whenever something is disputed.
Write down what cannot be seen on site: the material grade, the flatness tolerance, what to take heights from. Anything obvious when standing in the room does not need describing.
Assigning a worker
You choose the worker from the people already added to the stage. If the person you need is not there, invite them to the stage first.
A task can have more than one worker. Each receives an invitation and confirms with Accept. Until they confirm, the task is not assigned to them.
A manager can assign themselves as the worker.
What appears inside the task
A card with the status and its action buttons, the technical description, the material specification, task documents, related tasks and reports.
A common mistake
Making the task too big. If the work takes two weeks and involves three people, that is a stage, not a task. A task should close with a single final report — if you cannot write that report without listing five different jobs, split the task.
