Using DOMOD on your phone

How to work with DOMOD from a phone on site: what is available and what you need for it to run smoothly.

DOMOD is a web service designed mobile-first. Everything available on a desktop is available on a phone — there is no reduced version.

There is no separate app to install. You open DOMOD in your phone's browser.

Setting it up so it feels like an app

Add DOMOD to your home screen. On iPhone: open the site in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android: open the browser menu and choose Add to home screen.

You get an icon like any other app, and it opens without the browser address bar.

What works well on a phone

Photos. You can take a photo straight from a task, from the documents section, or in a chat, without leaving DOMOD and digging through your gallery afterwards.

Recording purchases. Standing at the merchant's counter, mark the item as bought and enter the price on the spot. Doing this later from memory is where cost tracking goes wrong.

Checking status. The filters for tasks needing attention give you the state of a stage in a couple of taps.

What needs a connection

DOMOD is a web service, so it needs internet the whole time it is open. There is no offline mode.

On a site with poor signal this is worth planning around: write your report before going down to the basement, not after. If a page will not load, the data has not been lost — it simply has not been sent yet, and the page needs reloading once you have signal.
