Project chats
The four chat types inside a project, who takes part in each and why clients do not message workers directly.
Conversations live inside the project rather than in a messaging app. The reason is simple: a year later you can open the property and find what was agreed, without scrolling through six months of unrelated messages.
Five kinds of chat
We built five chat types so that anything important can be discussed in the right place.
Group chat with the Client — the Client, the Owner and the project Managers. The main channel for the property.
Private chat with the Client — the Owner and the Client, one to one.
Managers' project chat — the Owner and the Managers. Internal questions about the property, without the Client.
Stage working chat — the Owner, the Managers and the Workers on that stage. Working discussion of one front of work.
Private chat with a Worker — the Owner or a Manager and one Worker.
The only restriction
There is no direct channel between the Client and a Worker.
This removes the possibility of the Manager's instructions and the Client's requests contradicting each other. Any wish from the Client passes through the Owner and becomes a clearly defined task for the Worker.
Where to find the chats
The chat icon in the top bar collects everything in one place. Chats are also reachable from the project screen and the stage screen — the same conversation, just closer to its context.
What belongs in a chat and what belongs in a task
Chats are for discussion and decisions.
Tasks hold the technical brief and the record of how precisely it was carried out. Interim reports and comments on documents exist for that.
